3. How Do I Pack My Goods Before A Courier Pickup
Packing can be tiresome work, especially if you are doing it at home.
But you can make the packing process more manageable with the right tools and using the correct method.
If you need to pick up and deliver your goods from the warehouse to port or port to the warehouse, you don’t need to pack.
But in that case, you must supervise the packing because loose packaging can damage your goods.
A courier pickup service and any other pickup and delivery service won’t take responsibility for loose packaging.
From our experience, we have prepared some tips for you so that you can properly pack your goods:
- Household rope or sellotape is not ideal for parcel packaging. So, do not use those while preparing for a courier pickup and delivery. Use strong parcel tape to keep your items safe and secured.
- Use the appropriate tag for fragile items. If the courier or pick up delivery service agency has its own tagging, DO NOT remove it or substitute it. In some delicate situations, machines handle your goods and they can not read.
- Don’t use household sellotape or rope to seal your parcel. Keep your contents safely inside by using strong parcel tape.
- Do not use damaged boxes for shipping your goods.
- If you are using UPS as your courier pickup and delivery service, do not shrink wrap your cardboard. UPS will charge you more if they find shrink wrapping.
- Don’t mix different types of items. Some items are fragile, and some are rigid. It would be best if you packed accordingly so that you can arrange them properly and inform the courier service how to handle which package.

In addition, the seller will pay the insurance fee. Like the CFR, both parties will share the risks after the goods are on board.

12. How Does a Courier Charges For Pickup and Delivery?
The Courier pickup and delivery service are expansive, and the price depends on various factors.
Here are the factors that impact the price for a Courier pickup and delivery service:
Actual and Volumetric Weight
International shipment cost largely depends on the weight. They use a term called ‘volumetric weight’ to calculate the cost of your shipment.
If the actual weight is less than the Volumetric weight, then the courier service will charge you for Volumetric weight.
Again, if the actual weight is greater than the volumetric weight, the express courier service will charge you for your shipment’s actual or regular weight.
If you are not a regular shipper, this can be a little bit confusing for you.
But the calculation is simple, and you can find the weight you will be charged for using the following formula.
Just remember this easy formula of 1:200.
Suppose you have a one cubic meter package.
If the actual weight of your package weighs lower than 200Kg, you will be charged 200 KG.
If the actual weight is more than 200KG, then you will be charged for the actual weight.
So, before sending your courier, you should find out the volume and weight of your package.
If you want to know more on how to calculate the weight watch the video
The size of your package is also critical. Remember, the courier service cares for space very much. So, try to lessen the package size to reduce the pickup and delivery cost.
The shipping route plays a vital role in the price.
You will have to pay less if you are shipping to Asia or Europe from China.
But if you are shipping to Africa, you will have to pay more.
Type Of Goods Or Freight
If you are shipping valuable, sophisticated, or fragile goods, the courier service has to handle the parcel delicately.
In that case, the shipping agency might add an additional charge.
If you send a local parcel, you don’t have to worry about the customs charge so that the shipping rate will be less.
If you are dealing with international shipping, you have to pay the customs duty, and the charge will rise.
Most international express courier services charge high for their pickup delivery service.
Freight forwarders, on the other hand, charge less.
In Hart Logistics, we offer international courier services all over the world at a cheap rate.
Moreover, we have contracts with UPS, DHL, FedEx, and other prominent international shipping courier services.
You can use their service from us, and we can give a cheap rate that you won’t get directly.
This is another thing to look for when you are calculating your pickup and delivery service.
There is no international standard tariff for express couriers.
Every courier implies its own tariff depending on various factors.
Some companies have special tariffs in particular regions or countries.
So, compare tariffs from different companies before you fix an express courier service.
13. Which Items I Can Not Send By Courier Service?
You can not send those items that are forbidden in every country.
For example, you can send drugs such as Cannabis resin, Cocaine, LSD, Opium, Narcotics, Morphine, Psychotropic substances using a courier service.
You can not send animal products like fur, skins, and horn products (i.e., Ivory) also.
Transporting weapons without legal permission is also forbidden in every country, so never try to export guns or swords using a courier service.
Some countries have special bans on some products.
If the goods are termed as dangerous goods you also can not ship without legal permission.
It is better to ask the courier service before you deliver your product if you are confused about the goods you are shipping.
14. What Happens If My Goods Are Lost Or Damaged By The Pick And Delivery Service Company?
That is highly unlikely, but a bad thing happens.
If the courier service lost your product in transit or any other point, you could demand compensation.
Upon your demand, the courier service will provide you the compensation, but that will not cover the total price of your goods.
You should read the terms of agreements before sending valuable products using a courier pickup and delivery service.
